Equity and inclusion in astronomy
- My department will soon no longer exist. I documented here how we experienced the program review process, updated and presented in the broader context of threats to physics and astronomy departments at the June 2024 AAS meeting in Madison, WI. The latter document includes contribution from Prof. Britt Lundgren at UNCA, also undergoing the process in 2024, and concludes with a student's perspective of the cuts. It is not easy reading: the tl;dr is that the process is arbitrary, cruel, and toolkits will not save us from existential threats to our profession and the academy writ large.
- A document I've written, compiling many sources on best practices in hiring in astronomy (note: this is a working draft; version here current as of 03/31/2017)
